Size Matters

The Megapixel Myth

A 4K monitor only displays 8.3 megapixels. That 48MP smartphone photo is overkill for screens — it is mainly useful for cropping flexibility or large prints.

The 300 DPI Rule

300 DPI (dots per inch) is the gold standard for print quality. But here is the twist: a 1920×1080 image is only 6.4×3.6 inches at 300 DPI. For a full-page magazine print, you need about 2400×3000 pixels.

Instagram's Secret Crop

Instagram's feed crops photos to 4:5 (0.8 ratio), but Stories use 9:16. That is why your carefully composed square photo sometimes looks off — the platform silently crops it.
Pro Tip: Always resize from a larger source to a smaller target. Upscaling a small image creates blurry, pixelated results because the computer has to guess missing information.
